These super-easy and nutritious sourdough dog treats make the perfect treat for your furry friend.

  • Total Time: 1 hr 20 mins
  • Yield: 16 biscuits 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large eggs
  • 180g sourdough discard
  • 160g pumpkin or sweet potato puree
  • 64g natural creamy peanut butter
  • 90g quick-cooking oats
  • 180240g whole wheat flour

Instructions

  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine eggs, sourdough discard, pumpkin puree, and peanut butter until well incorporated.
  2. Mix in the oats and leave this to rest at room temperature for 30 minutes. Allow the oats to absorb some of the liquid, or until it resembles loose cake batter.
  3. Heat the oven to 350°F.
  4. Add 1 ½ cups of whole wheat flour to the wet ingredients, and mix on low speed. If the mixture is quite sticky, add the remaining flour, until you’re left with a slightly tacky dough. You can add additional ingredients like rolled oats for a delicious dog snack.
  5. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead.
  6. Divide the dough in half, and cut the treats into your desired shape. Transfer the treats to a parchment-lined baking sheet. The treats won’t expand during baking, so you can place them close together.
  7. Bake the treats for 20 minutes until they’ve puffed and browned. These treats will be chewy on the inside, and dogs love crunchy treats, so bake them for another 10 minutes.
