Best Tips For Making Sourdough Bread Pudding

  • Normally, bread pudding recipes include both milk and heavy cream, but you can adjust this to suit your personal taste. For a more balanced taste, you can easily opt for half cream and half milk, and for a pudding that sits easier in the stomach, get rid of the heavy cream altogether. Additionally, you could opt for a non-dairy alternative like soy milk, coconut milk, or coconut cream.
  • Much like French toast and croutons, you’ll want to go for stale bread when it comes to this type of dessert, simply because it is best at holding its structure while baking.
  • Experiment with different fruits and nuts, to bring forth fun textures and flavors. For instance, top your pudding with dried cranberries, figs, apricots, chopped pecans, walnuts, or chocolate chips for a fun treat. You can even opt for fresh fruit, like blueberries, raspberries, and sliced peaches.
  • Make sure you press the bread into the milky coating, to ensure that each piece of bread has thoroughly soaked through.

Hi! My name is Natasha and I'm specialized in home sourdough bread baking and currently based in Slovakia - a very small country in Central Europe. My bread baking story began in 2011 when I decided to give up commercial yeast. I felt tired all the time (especially after eating bread and other foods made with yeast), I wasn’t motivated to do anything, had trouble concentrating throughout the day, my abdomen was bloated and I was like a trumpet on steroids – basically, I was quite a wreck. I was a big bread lover (and still am) and having to stop eating bread was quite hard at that time but I felt I was on a right way to give my body a chance to heal itself.
